Donate a Bed to theExchange

Thank you for your interest in donating a bed to theExchange! In 2023 theExchange provided donated household items to 520 households, with requests for beds being the most common client need. To ensure theExchange is able to accommodate your donation and maintain quality items for those we serve, please find our criteria for donated bed materials below.

What we accept:

theExchange strives to provide comfortable, clean, and safe beds to our clients. ​Therefore we accept the following:

  • Gently used (like new) twin, full, and queen size mattresses and box springs.

    • If in doubt, ask, "Would I give this bed to a friend?"​

    • The mattress and frame should be free of sagging, rips, stains​, and breaks.

  • Complete, folding, metal bed frames for twin, full and queen size beds.

What we cannot accept:

Due to storage and assembly requirements, theExchange is unable to accept:

  • Mechanized lift and hospital style beds​

  • Headboards and footboard as well as rail style frames that require a headboard and footboard

  • King size mattresses and split king size box springs

  • Futon mattresses without the futon frame

  • Waterbeds

  • Air mattresses

Ways to Donate

In-person: Bed items meeting donation guidelines will be accepted during regularly scheduled donations hours.

  • Monday and Wednesday 1-3 pm

  • Tuesday and Thursday 1-4 pm.

Limited Pick Up: Our staff works hard to coordinate donation pickup when donor drop off options are unavailable. Our delivery team is comprised of dedicated program volunteers who maintain limited availability on Tuesday and Thursday mornings to coordinate pick up.
