What We Accept & Don't

Ask yourself: "Would I give this to my best friend?"


We accept gently used items. They must be clean, fully functional and in great condition: No stains, rips, odors or pet hairs.

Unsure of what we accept? E-mail us a picture and we will will guide you through the process.

We have the right to refuse items that don't meet our quality standards.

 

  • To donate small items please bring them to the front entry at 1009 4th St S. Monday/Wednesday 1-3 and Tuesday/Thursday 1-4

  • For large item donations such as couches, dressers, tables, mattresses etc. please e-mail us with pictures and dimensions of each item. theexchange@shelterdevelopment.org

  • If you have no way of transporting large items we will work with you to arrange a pick-up time. (La Crosse, Onalaska and the city of La Crescent) We have a stellar group of volunteers who deliver the large items to our clients on Tuesday and Thursday mornings 8:30-10:30 and we will work with you to fit your large pick-up items within that schedule as best we can.

  • The suggested minimum donation for this service is $25-$50. We do not sell or profit from your donations. Your monetary donation allows us to re-home and deliver your items at no cost to community members in need without vehicles.

  • If possible, please have your items in an easily accessible area such as the garage or main floor entrance away from stairs and tight turns.
