  1. How much does furniture cost? 
    Our appointment is free.    

  2. I have an appointment scheduled with theExchange – How do I get more information? 
    Contact your advocate

  3. Are the items used? 
    Most of the items you receive will be gently used.  We work hard to ensure that the items are of good quality, with no rips, stains, odors, or pet hair.

  4. I only need a few items – can I come to theExchange?  
    Yes, when you have your home visit with your case worker, mention the items you are needing. They can ask us in advance if we have the items you are looking for.

  5. Can someone shop with me? 
    Please limit the number of representatives from the household to one or two people- we have limited space and it generally helps the process go more smoothly.  If children must come along, you must keep them close to guard against accidents.

  6. Can you deliver to my house/apartment? 
    Yes, we only deliver large items to La Crosse, Onalaska, Town of La Cresent. (Please note: have your vehicle empty, as you will be taking all the smaller items with you. Also, we can only move furniture up two flights of stairs without an elevator- this includes both outdoor and indoor sets of stairs). We ask you brainstorm with your case manager, family and friends on how you can get furniture to your home first. If you have no options, we have volunteers to assist with moving the items for you.

  7. How do I qualify? 
    Speak with your advocate – if together you determine that theExchange is a good resource for you for furniture and household goods they can set-up an appointment. 

  8. Can I come to theExchange again? 
    Our mission is to provide the basic home essentials needs to give you a start. We encourage you to shop for all needed items during your appointment. You cannot shop repeatedly for additional or replacement items.  When you experience hardships that result in the loss of home furnishings previously acquired at theExchange, you are permitted to shop at theExchange for additional household items. 

  9. What if you don’t have the item(s) I want? 
    Our local community provides us with tremendous support in the form of donated items.  Because we are a donation-based organization, occasionally we may not have an item you are looking for.  You will still receive most items necessary for a comfortable and functioning home at each appointment.  We are unable to accommodate “rain-checks” for unavailable items.
